A fine time was had by all yesterday at K is for kitchen when Giuliana Cortese from CiCi CoCo Cookery school shared the secret ingredients to making the perfect Italian risotto. Chestnut mushrooms, spinach, green beans and mascarpone all went into the pot – along with a glass or two of white wine – and the results were delicious!

Perfect Risotto Feb 2016Come along next week (Tuesday 01 March, 6pm) to be inspired by the girls from the Hampton Cookery School who will be demonstrating a lovely Easter time main course followed by a pudding to wow! We still have a few places left….

And one for the diary… Giuliana is back on 27 April (Wednesday lunchtime) to make Arancini. The perfect follow on from risotto, Giuliana will show us how to fill these divine ‘little oranges’ (balls of rice) with traditional ragu as well as mozzarella & pesto. We are also hoping to see Giuliana with her mother (who is visiting the UK in May) to show us how to make her regional ‘gnocchi’. Watch this space!

Get ready for Pancake Day on Tuesday! We have crepe pans in all styles and sizes (from £12.50 to £45) as well as authentic French creperie spreaders (£1.75), giant pancake turners (£5.75) and the covetable Mason Cash batter jug (£15). You’ll also find retro glass sugar shakers (£4.50), whisks galore (from £2.95) and yellow metal lemon squeezers (£6.50). Now all you need is flour, eggs, milk and sugar. Our tried and tested recipe is 100g plain flour and 250ml milk to 1 egg – with a pinch of baking powder, salt and a spoonful of sugar – all beaten up to a smooth batter. We say goodbye to January with 10% off everything (well, almost!) for the last two days of the month. The sale starts today (Friday 29th) and will finish at 5.30pm tomorrow (Saturday 30th). The only things not included in the sale are Cook ready meals, Tomas kitchens and AGAs – which leaves lots of lovely goodies that are up for grabs. This could be the moment for a KitchenAid food processor (save £35) or a Dualit Classic Toaster (save £15). Or you might want to top up with Swedish dishcloths, Danish candles and Caspari napkins at a less 10% price.
