We have two fabulous cookery events lined up over the next month.
The first, Perfect Risotto, is on a Wednesday lunchtime with the Cici CoCo Cookery School. Giuliana will be sharing the secrets to making the perfect Italian risotto on 24th February, starting at 12 noon.
The second, Easter Entertaining, is on a Tuesday evening with the Hampton Cookery School. Hen & Ros will be inspiring us with a main dish and dessert, perfect for a celebratory get together, on 01 March, starting at 6pm.
Cookery events are £20 per person and include food tastings and a £5 voucher for K is for kitchen.
To book, come and see us or call the shop on 01491 598580 – or send an email.
Egg cups so often get pushed to the back of a cupboard and topple over. This stackable set of egg cups says goodbye to all that. In deliciously juicy colours, each cup slips over the wooden holder to be stored in pride of place on your worktop or safely stowed away in a cupboard ready for a boiled egg moment. Removed from the wooden holder, each cup is steady on the table and will not tip over as it has a good wide base. Ideal as a pressie, the egg cup set comes in a stylish and sturdy box, and costs £19.95.
It is the last few days before we dip into the hat and announce the winner of our prize draw. One lucky person will be getting a KitchenAid stick blender (worth £99) just in time for Christmas. If you have not already entered, come into the shop to fill in an entry form or send us an email with your name, address, email and telephone number, and we’ll do it for you! There is no obligation to buy anything but only one entry per person.
We’ll announce the winner at the end of the day on Saturday 5th December. It will be the end of a fun packed day with lots happening in Watlington. The High Street is closed to traffic between 10am and 2pm so to make way for the Watlington Town Christmas Fair. K is for kitchen is right in the heart of all the action, a stone’s throw from Santa’s grotto, so be sure to stock up with Christmas tea towels, dish cloths and paper napkins while your little one is waiting.
At 4pm, St Leonard’s Church will be switching on the lights of all the beautiful trees inside for Watlington’s Christmas Tree Festival. The theme is Where in the World – guess what – we bagged Scandinavia – so look out for our Scandi-Tree and join in the carols!
Christmas is coming and shooting parties are in full swing. Last week we prepared some delicious dishes for a shoot at Stoke Talmage. The main course was Beef Bourguignon (£7.50 per head) with plenty of red wine and delicious button mushrooms. Traditional apple crumble (£3.50 per head) with festive spices was on the menu for dessert. And come tea-time, there was AGA-baked shortbread and a huge chocolate tray bake.
If you have a party coming up and would like a helping hand, our AGA-chef, Wendy, is happy to talk through any ideas. To make it personal, we often use your own serving dishes – we loved the cast iron that was used for the Beef Bourguignon!
If it is a last minute get together, we hold two big freezers stocked with the delicious ready meals from COOK in single and double-size portions. Finally, don’t forget our supremely excellent Italian ice-creams and fresh fruit sorbets from Marine Ices – ½ litre tubs are £5 – and Salted Caramel continues to be a favourite, whatever the weather, closely followed by Mango sorbet!
Our cookery events will start up again in the New Year and we still have a few places left on our pre-Christmas cooking demos. On the 1st December, 12 noon, the Hampton Cookery school are showing us how to prepare two festive dishes that can be prepared in advance and put in the freezer. On the 2nd December, 6pm, Cici CoCo our lovely Italian cookery school is presenting a pork dish that will wow your guests but is easy to prepare and the secrets of making pumpkin ravioli. Tickets are £20 per head and include something to eat and recipes to take home.
If you want to join a cookery event or discuss cooking food for a party, call on 01491 598580 or email us.
Every week we’ll be posting our product of the week – whether it’s new, exciting, something special or the most popular in our shop that week, we’re sure you’ll love it.
Our product of the week is sure to get you in the festive spirit! This edible glitter is a must-have accessory for any Christmas baking – great for adding sparkle to cakes, cookies and sweet bites.
